Itchy Eyes
It is common for people to experience itchy eyes from time to time. Itchy eyes usually includes itchy eyelids or red and swollen eyes.
Causes of Itchy Eyes
In the majority of the cases, itchy eyes occur due to some type of allergy. Exposure to allergens such as dust and pollen could amount in a reaction which triggers the production of a compound called histamine in the tissues surrounding the eyes. This results in itchiness, swelling and redness.
Other causes of itchy eyes include meibomian gland dysfunction, dry eye syndrome and blepharitis.
